When it comes to acne, it's never any easy solution. I personally suffer from breakouts from time to time. I've tried many ways of trying to rid acne prone issues..from prescriptions, topical solutions, natural solutions and many more. Although some of the solutions do work, it's never for the long run.

I realised that it comes down to your skincare routine and what particular products you're using. And should you be using the right acne skincare products on a regular basis, you will start to notice a gradual improvement to your skin - just like how I did since I've started to use the Sebamed Clear Face range as part of my skincare routine targeting acne prone skin. In addition to cleansing your face with the right acne-prone products, ensure that you drink enough water and eat a healthy diet. (After all...you are what you eat!)

What makes the Sebemed range unique is that their products are soap and alkali free with a pH of 5.5 - this is the same pH of healthy skin. By using other skincare products that contain soap and alkali, this can potentially lead to more problematic skin issues as it is too harsh for the skin. The Sebamed range is the perfect solution here as it supports and sustains the skin's natural acid mantle. The products have been developed with Dermatologists, Pharmacists and Hospitals. High quality products have actually been used to produce the Sebamed range which means that there are no cosmetic gimmicks involved.

So to give you guys a little run-down of which products I have used, check out the below:
  • 1. Sebamed Clear Face - Antibacterial Cleansing Foam (I'll start off with using a cleansing foam to combat impurities, blackheads and pimples.)
  • 2. Sebamed Clear Face - Deep Cleansing Facial Toner (After cleansing, I'll focus with a deeper cleansing product such as the Facial Toner which helps to cleanse deep into the pores and counteracts the formation of new pimples forming.)
  • 3. Sebamed Clear Face - Care Gel (And after deep cleansing the face, I'd focus on applying on a care gel that's free from oils and emulsifiers and still keeps the skin moisturised.)
  • 4. Sebamed Clear Face - Coloured Anti-pimple Cream (So in order to target each pimple, by using this antibacterial cream, it helps to clear up the pimples. It also provides a relief from pimples and blackheads).

For further information, check out the below to find out more about the Sebamed range. Did I also mention how affordable all of these products are? They're definitely within budgets and for the quality of the product, I am so impressed with them. Find out why...

Sebamed Liquid Face & Body Wash AND Body Lotion

I tried out a sample of the Liquid Face and Body wash and was impressed at the multi-uses that it had. It's made 100% soap and alkali free which means that it's so gentle on all skin types. It's also paraben free so there are no nasties present. This face and body wash looks to effectively gently cleanse deep into the pores and doesn't even dry out the skin. It's definitely ideal for those with acne-prone skin as it doesn't irritate the pimples. How the face and body wash works is that it has a moisturising complex that contains essential skin related amino acids, vitamins and lecithin which helps to retain moisture for the skin. So if you have sensitive skin, this wash is so ideal for you as well. This liquid face and body wash is ultra mild and therefore provides the most gentle feeling for all skin types.

I also tested out the Body Lotion that does not contain any soap or alkali. By using this body lotion, it helps to preserve the natural moisture content of your skin. There's a camomile extract and allantoin which soothes the skin by making it feel softer and more supple. I found that when I used the body lotion on my skin, it didn't feel greasy or oily at all. In fact, it absorbed easily and left my skin feeling so hydrated. It's so ideal for winter as it helps to keep your skin nourished and moisturised.

  • RRP $14.95 for 300ml or $25.50 for 1000ml - for the Sebamed Liquid Face and Body Wash.
  • RRP $12.50 for the Sebamed Moisturising Body Lotion

Sebamed Clear Face, Antibacterial Cleansing Foam (150ml)

This cleansing foam is made for those with acne prone skin. It looks to combat pimples, blackheads and skin impurities. This cleansing foam gently cleanses right into the pores, leaving your skin feeling clean and fresh. There are no parabens or aluminium present in the cleanser making it a safe product to use in the long term. There's a new antibacterial active ingredient called Montaline C40 which effectively penetrates the pores for a mild pore-deep cleansing and antibacterial effect. It also helps to protect your skin against lipid erosion during cleansing by providing a hydrating and smoothing effect to your skin. As there is Panthenol present in the cleansing foam, this actually helps to support the regeneration of any inflamed skin.

The cleansing foam also claims to kill bacteria within 5 minutes...I actually tried putting this to the test to see whether it would make a difference and I could actually feel my face feeling cleaner and softer. After using the foaming cleanser for a few days, I can visible see my skin looking brighter. After about a week, most of the acne on my face turned dry (which tells you that it's actually working) and I could not see new pimples forming. I simply love how the cleansing foam works to dry out my pimples which is a sign that the product is working for me.

Sebamed Clear Face, Deep Cleansing Facial Toner (150ml)

So after cleansing the skin I would follow that by using a deep cleansing Facial Toner. How this works is that it removes any excess oil, sebum and dirt particles you may have on the skin and it looks to disinfect it with alcohol. There is also witch hazel present in the facial toner which means that it soothes any irritated skin and redness. Then we have cucumber extract and hydrolzyed silk which all provide a moisture barrier that protects your skin from dehydration. Overall, I felt that this facial toner really provided a refreshing feeling to my skin. It helps to tighten my pores without that uncomfortable feeling which is amazing. I could definitely not see anymore new pimples forming which already tells me that my acne routine is helping. Most importantly, the skincare is so affordable!

Sebamed Clear Face, Care Gel (50ml)

Just like a facial acne gel, this product is free from nasties (i.e. Paraben, fragrances or aluminium). This care gel contains hyaluronic acids that increases the moisturising binding capacity of the skin, along with Allantoin that helps to smooth out any scaly skin. The care gel is similar to a moisturiser, hence it actually helps to keep the skin hydrated without causing more breakouts to the skin. It's not oily which is good and I would use the care gel under a serum (such as a jojoba or rosehip oil) as it will actually go well together. Overall, after using a facial toner, I would apply the care gel over my face to ensure that my face doesn't dry out or so. It's always good to retain moisture by using a product that can help to smooth out the skin.

Sebamed, Clear Face, Coloured Anti-pimple Cream (10ml)

This is an antibacterial cream that covers and clears pimples. (Yes - coloured) It's regarded as an effective relief from pimples and blackheads because of the panthenol it contains as it assists with the healing process. The pimple cream also looks to reduce inflammation and dries out the pimples before you get to it first. Contained within its ingredients is a highly concentrated phytosteroles from rapeseed that has anti-inflammatory properties and helps to improve the tone and texture of the skin. It also has Vitamin E that helps to fight tissue damaging free radicals. This pimple cream certainly helps to clam the skin down and prevent further scarring. There is alcohol and chloroxylenol present as they inhibit any bacterial acne with addition to shea butter and jojoba oil which helps to smooth and soothe the skin.

Overall, this pimple cream works well when a pimple is fresh as it helps to speed the healing process. It's great for those who have been suffering for acne for so long and are wanting a long-term solution of achieving clearer and better looking skin.
